Going Underground

December 20th, 2025 — Meera

Our first mission underground, you could even call it our first dungeon delve together. I’m not saying we did it perfectly, good, or even adequate, but I think we all learned something from it.

  • We need to get better at trapfinding, the first thing we encountered in the tunnels nearly killed us. There were centipede corpses curled around metal springs that sprayed the centipede legs all around in the tunnel. I hope Matuas learned something from Rib here.
  • There is a giant mushroom infused with magic, which enhances significant magic spells by imbuing it with a bit of extra life force.
  • Next there were some annoying little fey with hammers. Matuas was hit particularly badly and went unconscious. We got a bit of a shock: he turned out to be an Anadi, but he doesn’t want anybody else to know because growing up he was taught that everybody else wants to eat Anadi.
    • Note for whoever reads this diary without permission, if you tell anyone I’ll find you and spell you into your next life!
  • Another shock, this time anaphylactic shock for Ignaci from a bee sting. We save him and help him and his group upstairs. Our tunnels seem to connect to the tunnels from Warden House where Ignaci, Strands of glowing dawn Tzeniwe and Okoro started their investigations.
  • Then something from Dungeoneering 101, a brown mold. In our case accompanied by a grey ooze. We all learned something here: don’t bring fire to a brown mold!
  • And last but not least for today, there was a nasty fey trying to make a tsetse fly into a mount. This fey was really dangerous with his weapon. The tsetse fly didn’t really want to become a mount, but was very afraid of the fey and would probably have been killed if he didn’t listen.

Before I forget, there was some tension between Koride and Teacher Ot. Koride’s students had a first try on this basement tunnel system, but came back pretty quickly. Now we, as Teacher Ot’s students, get to try this, but I think Koride won’t like us for it. Hopefully she remains at least a neutral teacher and doesn’t start to negatively impact our studies with her.
