Session 1, 2

Dear journal,

I met my classmates today and had my first tests and lessons today at the academy.

Rib is a Kholo, very loud, very wise in combat. Het doesn’t seem to know all the social rules in human society, but he is a good fellow student. He talks to the skull of his grandma.

Miira is a catfolk, she seems afraid of rain and also of Rib. She is quiet, reserved and seems to have a lot of magic talent. I might learn from her.

Faran is an elf, he seems cultured, well brought up and connected. He seems to use magic through his weapon, which is interesting to me. He is mild mannered and very friendly.

Teacher Ot gave us all kinds of tests, which we succeeded in I think… He gave us a bit of magic to learn from and use. It felt very different from my own magic.

Then we met our people in the tower. All class mates who are a year wiser than us. There seems to be a kind of thing about beads, I have two from Ot, blue and yellow, and also a sunburst bead from our dorm. I want to craft my own beads so that I can make a good impression, which my classmates did not do. They made some… interesting choices in their beads, didn’t even cure them or bake them…

Then more tests. One from each ‘school’ from the university.

Rain scribes:

We had to get some Ojiviri Chickens. This was easy, Faran could locate a merchant quite fast and Rib sweet talked them out of their chicks. With my cages we could travel with them quickly.

Tempest sun mages:

There where gremlins in the school. They seem to have huge respect for Rib, since he is a Kholo. He got them out and even extracted some information about who is behind this all..

Cascade Bearers:

Boy… That was an experience, we had to gather ingredients for a ritual. Scarlet cap mushroom, lucky bones and fuzzy caterpillars (yhummy). When we got to the scarlet cap, we where ambushed by a mycoid, which infected me with his disease. Quite potent and nasty stuff, since I almost never get infected by jungle stuff. Two of my classmates got infected too and could be helped by others in the academy. I just slept it off, which felt good. When we did the ritual, everything seemed to work, it was a very different kind of magic than I know, it felt very … groupy and occult.

Emerald Boughs

Then some mail delivery for the Emerald Boughs. It’s very nice that they take care of the community like this, but it was kind of boring to do… And also conflict resolutions is not one of my strong points.

Talking about strong points, suddenly we had to tell a story for the Unutjati… Not a report, but something that was embellished and bloated, so that other would enjoy it more, because of the huge waste of time it was. I really didn’t get it, so I got drunk and made a rhyme, like they do for the little ones. Everyone seemed to like the toddler-rhyme, I still think this is highly inefficient..

We where then ambushed and cut down by two different gremlin types. This hurt like hell, I don’t know where they came from, but I need to do more cautious scouting, because this is the second time in two days I almost died in combat..
