Session 10 - Curses and drugs

June 27th, 2026 — Meera

Finally no longer cursed. Zuma helped us to craft a custom ritual to rid ourselves of the snake curse. Thank you, Zuma. He was at hand to intercept if something went wrong, but we were able to bring it to a successful end. Luckily nobody was interested in the Speaker's Stage at that point of the day.

Note on the ritual: we used the story of Ydersius sewed shut mouth to move and capture the curse in a small statue, but we will have to be careful what is going to happen with or to the statue, which is now magically cursed.

I've been practising. No, not my magic. No, not my lessons or craft. No, not even the swimming that I've been doing for a while now.

No, I've been practising my speech in front of the mirror, about harmony and sympathy between magic, ancestries and nature. I'm becoming a Magaambya conversant. Just like the others of my cohort.

Even though my research is still not going in the direction I want it to go, I think Teacher Ot at least recognises all the lessons learned from the failed attempts. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself…

As conversants we're expected to help out more with the school. Serpentfolk are stubborn in their goals, more issues are expected.

But today we first had to do a task for Xhokan. There was some nasty magical reagent bought from an otherwise trustworthy seller, so we tried to figure out where it's coming from. We tracked it to somebody trying to pay off a debt. We helped him escape the city, then he was willing to tell us it was Froglegs who gave him this task. The rest of the issue will be resolved by the city guards.

However before we got back to the city we were attacked by chaura-ka, demon monkeys in service of demon lord Angazhan. They were prepared for a long trip. Did they have anything to do with the drugs or was it just bad luck?
